Synopsis: The series follows high school student Courtney Whitmore, portrayed by Brec Bassinger, who discovers the Cosmic Staff and becomes the inspiration for a new generation of superheroes who become the Justice Society of America.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt I truly enjoyed this show even with some of the dark themes it was light, fun and endearing. At some points it felt campy but I personally feel that it was on purpose and it lent towards the charm of the show.
The cast did a bang-up job to make this a magical experience for the viewers. With all the superhero movies and shows this had an interesting point of view focusing around a perky young lady just trying to find her place in the world and biting off more than she can chew.
I would have to say the highlight of this show, for me was Luke Wilson playing as Pat Dugan the awkward step father and the relationship that builds between him and his new step daughter. It is actually one of the few superhero shows I felt comfortable watching with my kids and they got just as much of a kick out of it as me.
They differentiated from the source material a bit but for a reason that made sense and I enjoyed the spin they put on the origin of some of the characters.
Season 2 is scheduled to release on April 1st of 2021 and will be on the CW joining the CW Verse. I would give season one a 8 out of 10. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. If your looking for a lighter fair when it comes to superhero shows this is a great bet.
