This movie stars Kate Bosworth (Straw Dogs, Superman Returns), Thomas Jane (The Punisher) and Jacob Tremblay (Wonder and Good Boys) this was directed by Mike Flanagan (Oculus and Hush).

This horror movie was one of the better horror movies I've seen in a long time. This had all the feels from laughing to crying to oh my God what the hell is  going on moments. There were definitely jump-scare moments and things that happen that definitely got under your skin.

Before-I-Wake.png

All of the actors and actresses did a very good job in their part, Kate Bosworth was very much believable as a mourning mother looking for a child to fill the hole. As always Thomas G was on point. He's got a very emotional face as he's trying to act out these scenes. Up-and-comer Jacob Tremblay did a very good job as Cody believably scared and had very good composure throughout the whole movie.  I feel we'll see a lot more of this kid. The visual effects were stunning and entrancing and Netflix did a great job with this movie and I hope to see more from this hopefully this spawns into a series because there could be a lot that could come from this strange ability.

In this month's October horror series I have to give this a 5 out of 5!

I loved it, it was a great horror movie and it wasn't too gory that you can't watch it with significant others cuz I know my wife is squeamish. I still wouldn't recommend watching this with your kids but it was a great movie,  good pacing good acting and well written. This type of horror movie wants to bring you everything!

Well nerds thank you for reading and I hope you will give this movie a chance it is really worth it, and as always we will see you on the other side.

Don't Knock Twice

Synopsis: a recovering addict becomes Her estranged daughters only hope after the teen awakens a terrifying child stealing witch from urban legend.

This movie stars Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Riddick), Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody), and Directed by Caradog W James (The Machine).

This movie was the first on my list that actually had some genuinely creepy moments I enjoyed. That and it was different seeing Katee Sackhoff in a roll like this. The movie did a good job of pacing and keeping you  on your toes with good jump scare moments while maintaining a feeling of fear and dread throughout the whole thing as the characters are constantly looking over their shoulders. This is definitely an interesting horror movie worth the watch I would give it a 3 out of 5… It is definitely worth a watch but there was some small pacing issues and issues with graphics sometimes with certain things you could tell that it was a lower budget movie. But overall I actually enjoyed it. This was in the same vein as movies like The Grudge or The Ring and had the same kind of feel to it.

Alright nerds as always, thank you for reading and we will see you on the other side.

Tucker & Dale vs Evil Review

tucker--dale-vs-evil-57ec62395b29d.jpg

Synopsis: Affable hillbillies Tucker and Dale are on vacation at their dilapidated mountain cabin when they are mistaken for murderers by a group of preppy college students.

This movie stars Tyler Labine (New Amsterdam) , Alan Tudyk (Firefly and A Knight's Tale) and Katrina Bowden (30 Rock) directed by Eli Craig (Little Evil).

This movie is a riot. It plays homage to the classic horror movies of murderous Hillbillies and all the while spoofing and making fun of them. It twists classic tropes that you've seen in Halloween and Friday the 13th. This movie had tendencies to make me laugh out loud and cringe within the same scene. You find yourself rooting for the one she never thought you would. I would give this movie a 4 out of 5.

It was greatly executed. Alan Tudyk shines in the movie alongside Tyler Labine their chemistry as brothers is believable and funny. This movie is definitely one to add to your watchlist if you are squeamish or weak stomach you may want to pass. Do not watch this with your kids for it is   very gory.

Thank you for reading and there's always nerds we will see you on the other side.

He Never Died Review

09d529d8ff90599f02a05f67c14a9227.jpg

Synopsis: a reclusive Immortal who needs human flesh but tries to stay clean finds himself cast back into society by a gang of thugs and his estranged daughter.

This film stars Henry (Johnny Mnemonic), Jordan Todosey (Degrassi), and directed by Jason Krawczyk (The briefcase).

This movie follows Jack a seemingly simple and reclusive person. Kind of in the same vein as movies like Man on Fire or John Wick but with a supernatural twist. The movie has some slow pacing but clever interactions between the different characters you see the extent that Jack tries to hide his true nature. The movie has some Shock moments and like I said some dull moments. But overall I really enjoyed the movie. I would give this movie a 4 out of 5….if it had a better budget and salt the policing issue it would have a better score. Henry Rollins is a pleasure to watch in this role his whole nonchalant reaction about everything. I would definitely give this movie a try because I think you all will enjoy it.

As always Nerds….we will see you on the other side.

Netflix Original Little Evil Review

Synopsis: In this horror comedy a recently married man who wants to bond with his stepson begins to fear the boy is a demon.

Starring Adam Scott (Step Brothers) Evangeline Lilly (Ant-Man and the w

Wasp and Lost) and directed by Ellie Craig (2013’s Amazon Prime movie Zombieland)

This horror comedy was funny from start to finish the sheer naivety of the mother when concerning her son was hilarious to watch. And the all-too-familiar plight of the new step parent was jacked up a notch by the supernatural Shenanigans of the Demonic son. Just watching the trailer you get a sense that it's not in the step father's head and that there's definitely something going wrong. The character development of both step father and son was actually refreshing to watch. The whole premise of the movie was well thought out and perfectly done on screen. The smartass way that Adam Scott reacts to things naturally and all this other TV shows and this pulls through very well as the disgruntled stepfather. I would give this movie a 5 out of 5.

Pacing of the movie what's good the jokes were on point, and the characters chemistry we're really good. I would definitely recommend watching this for a good laugh and horror movie that you could watch with a special someone. It was more comedy than horror and fun all the way through.

As always nerds we will see you on the other side.

Netflix Original The Babysitter Review

the-babysitter-poster.jpg

Synopsis: When Cole stays up past his bedtime, he discovers that his hot babysitter is part of a satanic cult that will stop at nothing to keep him quiet.

This movie stars Samara Weaving (Ash vs the Evil Dead), Robbie Amel (The Flash), and Judah Lewis (The Christmas Chronicles) directed by McG (Terminator Salvation, and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle).

This dark comedy/horror movie takes us on an exciting, fun, sometimes hilarious, sometimes shockingly gory, joy ride through a twisted darker version of Home Alone. The hits keep coming and you keep rooting for the boy no matter what is thrown at him. The movie was fun from start to finish and this will be the first on my horror movie list to get a 5 out of 5.  It had a little bit of everything and kept you on your toes. The new comet Judah Lewis who plays the young boy does a great job and I think we are going to see a lot of him in the future of movies. I would highly recommend watching this movie.

As always needs we will see you on the otherside.

Seven In Heaven Review

MV5BMWIyNzc0NTUtMGZiNC00MzhiLTg2MjQtOGY4MTAzZjMwZWIxXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMjY5ODI4NDk@._V1_SX500_-1.jpg

Synopsis: When two teenagers step into a secret closet and emerge in a terrifying alternate reality. They must find their way back before the door shuts forever.

This movie star Travis Tope (Independence Day; Resurgence) and Haley Ramm (X-men the Last Stand as young Jean Grey), and directed by Chris Eigeman (Bunheads and Turn the River).

Again I would not put this as a horror movie but it is listed on Netflix as such. This movie had its issues but I was able to finish it. The idea is a little clunky to start with and there is no character development. It pretty much touches on the whole what if this happened in your life where would you be? But takes it on a little darker road. I give this a 2 out of 5. I watched it just to see where it goes but wasn't really thrilled with the movie as a whole. The lead actor was very one dimensional and it showed. The actress did a much better job being believable.

If you are just looking for something to waste time this is it. You won't miss anything by not watching this movie but some might enjoy it.

Well like always we will se you on the otherside.

Netflix Original: In The Tall Grass Review

in-the-tall-grass-netflix-movie-poster-1.jpg

To start off my October horror movie extravaganza I started off with this movie which is based off a Stephen King novella. This movie stars Patrick Wilson (watchmen), Layla De Oliveira (Gifted), and Avery Whitted, directed by Vincenzo Natali (Splice, 1997s Cube). This movie is a horror/psychological thriller that keeps you guessing and asking, what's going on?

The synopsis reads “After hearing a boy’s cry for help, a pregnant woman and her brother wade into a vast field of grass, only to discover there may be no way out.”

The movie definitely had a “children of the corn” feel to it, but that goes out the window real quick when crap hits the fan and you realize that these folks are dealing with very different forces. The director and the cast did an excellent job at keeping you on your toes making you wonder what in the hell is really going on.

To me, even though it was in the horror section of netflix, was more of a suspense/thriller and definitely worth a watch. It was entertaining and got your brain second guessing. It embodied some of the mystery that Stephen King is well known for. Without giving away too much this film takes you through a maze of questions that just keep coming and keeps you wondering how they will ever get out.

I give this film a 4 out of 5 mostly because of pacing. I like the role they gave to Patrick Wilson he did a very good job on playing the part and bringing it home. This is one that is worth a try if you want something creepy without being crazy scary.

And until next time we will see you on the other side.
